Summit Point Motorsports Park

Summit Point Motorsports Park is easily accessible from throughout the Mid-Atlantic area. Located about an hour and a half from Baltimore, MD, and just over an hour from Washington, DC, and only 15 minutes from I-81. The track is a 2-mile roadracing circuit (see the track layout) in sleepy Summit Point, West Virginia, just west of Charles Town and Harpers Ferry. Choose to take winding roads through the Shenandoah Valley or the highway.
  • From Frederick, MD, and points north of the Mason-Dixon:
From I-70 in Frederick, take US 340 West to Charles Town, WV, and continue straight through Charles Town to WV Rt. 51 for several blocks (Rt 340 becomes Rt 51). Bear left on Summit Point Road (Rt. 13) at the stop sign. The track is eight miles from Charles Town on the left.
  • From Northern Virginia:
Take Rt. 7 west past Leesburg toward Winchester. Turn right on Rt. 632 and turn right at the next two 'T' intersections. The track is on the right.
  • From Winchester, VA (and points south of Virginia):
From US 81 take Rt. 7 east for about 7 miles, then turn left onto Rt. 632. Turn right at the next two 'T' intersections. The track is on the right.
  • Scenic route from Northern Virginia:
Take Rt. 7 West past Leesburg toward Winchester. Take Route 9 North towards Charles Town, WV. Turn left in Charles Town onto WV Rt. 51 and go straight for about half a mile. Bear left on Summit Point Road (Rt. 13) at the stop sign. The track is eight miles from Charles Town on the left.
For more information and detailed directions from anywhere in the country, check out Summit Point Raceway's website.

Admission to the track is $25.00 for 2-day motorcycle events and $35.00 for 3-day motorcycle events (remember that MARRC volunteers get complimentary admission, plus are fed over the weekend!), and includes camping throughout the site. There is a concession stand with a limited menu, and bathroom and shower facilities available for free. For racers, electricity is available in the paddock area for a fee of $30, of which $10 is refunded when you return the padlock key. Standard 3-prong and RV connections are available.

Spectator Areas:
Summit Point's Main Circuit is an excellent spectator track and has plenty of grandstands in key locations. Four grandstands look over Turns 5 through 8 in the area known as the Carousel (the area of the track closest to the main gate), and a grandstand sits on the outside of the fast Turn 10. Most agree that the Carousel is the best area to watch since so much racing action occurs there. Although Turn 1 has no grandstands, its a great place to see race starts and the battles into the most aggressive braking area on the track. You can also go to Turn 3 behind the Paddock area, or to the inside of Turn 10 in the Loudoun Motorsports Tower in the paddock for a great view of that high-speed turn.

You can reference the Summit Point Main Circuit track map to get a good idea of the layout.

Accomodations:
The nearest restaurants and hotel accomodations are located in Charles Town, WV, and Winchester, VA. For more track and area information, check out Summit Point Raceway's website..

The Northgate Inn (304-725-1402) in Charles Town, WV, provides a 10% discount to MARRC members.
